First Day of Summer Camp Was............

Awesome!!!!

The truth is, I tossed and turned all night worrying about whether or not I would have enough for the kids to do.  I did not want to hear those dreaded words, "I'M BORED!"  We actually ran late on our schedule because we had plenty to do.  The field trip to Red Butte Gardens was awesome!  For most of us, this was our first trip to see the beautiful gardens.  WOW!  It was beautiful.  I will definitely venture back.  On side note, during summer, on Monday nights they have Family Night and it looks like it is a blast.  The kids had a fantastic time walking along the paths, observing the ducklings, running up and rolling down the giant grass hill, and of course, getting wet in the Children's Garden!

When we returned to school, we had another snack (or finished up lunch), then went outside to play.  Next was the computer room to cool off, some played math games, some ventured over to ABCya to work on keyboard and mousing skills, and a couple decided to watch a movie.  When the announcement came to go outside and play some soccer, we were met with boos!

We made it outside and split up into two teams for soccer.  It was an exciting game and I can certainly feel it in my bones and muscles.  We saw some pretty fancy footwork from Dylan, our junior counselor, and Ms. Flores, Counselor/3rd grade teacher.  I mostly ducked and screamed.  However, I did have some awesome blocks as the goalie/photographer.

The afternoon quieted down quickly and some of the campers colored, while others read, and a few little campers watched a movie.  Thank you Parents for entrusting us with your children!  I hope they are having as much fun as I am!

This week we will begin working on our garden!  I am so excited to have a garden for the children!  If anyone has any old gardening tools they would like to donate for the summer, we would greatly appreciate it!

Parent Reminders:
  • Please make sure your children have a hearty breakfast, especially on field trip days.
  • Bring an extra swimsuit & towel, if possible, to leave in locker for unplanned water days.
